From Italy winning EURO 2021 to Manchester City claiming their fifth Premier League title and Brazilian team Palmeiras lifting the Copa Libertadores twice: 2021 was a great year for PUMA teams around the world.
But there was more: Malmö captured the Swedish League title, Mexican team Rayados took home the CONCACAF Champions League, Kawasaki Frontale won the J1-League crown in Japan, Mamelodi Sundowns claimed the South African League title, Peñarol won the Uruguayan League Championship and Melbourne City lifted the A-League title in Australia.
PUMA clubs Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Krasnodar and Stade Rennais F.C. all qualified for the 2020/2021 Champions League, with Manchester City reaching the final.
And that was just football! In other teamsport events, PUMA team Denmark once again lifted the Handball World Championship title, while the Silver Ferns New Zealand Netball team won the 2021 Cadbury Netball Series and 2021 Constellation Cup. In rugby league, the Queensland Maroons won the 2021 Women’s State of Origin Series, and the New South Wales Blues won the Men’s 2021 State of Origin Series.
Our new signings, Real Madrid’s Raphaël Varane, FC Bayern München’s Kingsley Coman as well as Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, all supported campaigns for the ULTRA football boot this year. Neymar Jr. is the world’s most dynamic playmaker and knows how to drive his opponents crazy: With the launch of numerous special-edition football boots and signature Neymar Jr. collections, our relationship with the Brazilian superstar has gone from strength to strength. Neyman Jr. supported campaigns for PUMA’s FUTURE Z, which became one of the most popular boots on the market, and he even teamed up for a special collaboration with video game Fortnite.
What is it like to be a mother and an elite athlete? Icelandic international and Olympique Lyonnais midfield star Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir joined PUMA’s women’s campaign SHE MOVES US to tell the story of her pregnancy and return to playing elite level sport.
