FOUNDATION

The “Sportschuhfabrik Rudolf Dassler (RUDA)” is registered as a business in January 1948. Ten months later, the PUMA brand is officially born.

Walt Frazier makes a name for himself on and off the basketball court. Known for his off-court signature style, he earns himself the nickname “Clyde” after the movie character from “Bonnie and Clyde”. When he asked for a custom-made pair of basketball shoes, PUMA was immediately in the game – thus the PUMA CLYDE is born.
